Paraguay (Aug 9) - A new-born baby who was born in the hospital of Asuncion, Paraguay which was pronounced dead by attending physician found alive inside his coffin shortly thereafter the baby was brought home for funeral.
Jose Alvarenga, the father of the baby brought the baby home for his funeral leaving the mother in the hospital.
Mourning relatives were shocked when they heard the baby cry. "I opened it to look at his remains and found that the baby is breathing. I began to cry," Alvarenga said.
Alvarenga then rushed back the baby to the hospital and it was immediately treated and placed in an oxygen chamber. The baby is now in stable condition.
Officials investigated the incident if there was negligence involved. Dr. Ernesto Weber, Head of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit told Agence France-Presse, "This is a very unusual case."
Dr. Aida Notario, head of the Delivery Unit said that the baby's pulse was so low and was undetectable.
