FALSE FRIENDSHIP

Almost everybody knows that the hottest trend nowadays  is  to socialize internationally through the Internet. Several social networking sites are open to let everyone socialize themselves from people around the globe. From this socialization, friendship  went through that even ended into a reciprocal relationship  to some however, only few succeed. 

Meeting people through the Internet of different culture, behavior and from a distant place is not a guarantee to vouch person's integrity and if  he is a person of good standing. Mere ephemeral conversation is not enough to know a person well. There is a need to know the person personally, his character and integrity which would take in a long process.

You may try to consider that not all declaration made by someone through the Internet especially in social networking sites  are true and correct. Most of these individuals socialize themselves to merely have fun and amusement. Eventually,  they have  that fictitious name to protect their  privacy. True identity is hard to disclose when socializing people of different culture and tradition especially people from the other side of the world. 

As a consequence, false friendship is rampant in some social networking sites where most of the victims are minors or teenagers. Adults may likewise be a victim of such however, they could easily adapt things surrounding the circumstances. What is  disgusting if an adult is the chauffeur of the ploy and worst of it, the victim is minor. It may be comprehensible if both  the author and the victim are adults, being old enough to weigh the situation but what is injurious if the victim is minor whose intellect  is incapable to weigh the circumstances surrounding him. 

Why take advantage of young intellect who usually indulge harsh decision in deciding things that are beyond their control which is crucial?

That's why parents should always be aware of what their children must be doing in venturing the Internet because we know very well that the internet is not censored. There is that easy access of different sites with inappropriate content or illegal activities not only false friendship.  One of which is solicitation of minors exploiting them to pornography by sexual predators and this is very much rampant online.

How would you know that your children of 7 or 8 years old or even 2-year-old have been exploited to pornography by sex predators? They are made to watch pornography or x-rated films and videos; let them undress or lift up their clothes to view their sexual organs on cam and become a young perverts. These are among  of the cyber crimes committed day by day.

Just the same tragic story when 13-year-old girl, Megan Meier of Missouri committed suicide because of false friendship from Myspace.com, a social networking site.  She met Josh Evans whose name was fictitious or whose myspace account was fake under the pretext that he was her friend until such Josh Evans  kept on  hurting her by sending insulting messages which led her to hang herself.

Investigation reveals that such fictitious name or fake account was created by Megan's neighbor named Lori Drew, a 47-year old lady and a mother of Megan's friend later turned out to be her enemy. It was Mrs. Drew who acted as an actor and the author of the scenario which prompted Megan to succumb her life to death.

The family of Megan and the society as well wishes her for a brighter future but without much ado all of a sudden fades away which is bear stressing.

How could this lady, Mrs. Drew committed such cruel act who acted as principal perpetrator of the crime whose level of intellect is distinct from Megan. The tragic incident is not supposed to happen because as a parent, she must find resort to resolve whatever conflict her family has or between them and the family of Meier to prosper a harmonious relationship among them rather than acting vilely which led to lost a young and innocent life. Where is now the role of a good mother and a good parent in a family?

How about the parents of Megan? Where were they when situation was not worst? Why let such tragic incident happened to their daughter without safeguarding her against imminent danger which could have prevented her death? Are they protective to Megan's life?

To weigh all, since life had been lost and a brighter tomorrow had been ceased, the conviction of Lori Drew to a lesser offense for 3 counts of Misdemeanor in violation of the Federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act or the Anti Hacking Act for unauthorized computer use, is not even enough to indemnify  when you lost someone you love.

Mrs. Drew is punished for 1 year imprisonment and a fine of $100,000.00 per count.

The story of Megan Meier is a tocsin to every parents and children for whatever imminent danger that may happen.
